*Cigarettes and tobacco

In accordance with the welfare requirements within the statutory framework for the EYFS I have a NO SMOKING policy in my setting.

*Medication

All medication will be kept in its original packaging and will be kept safely out of reach of children.

Medication will only be given to children with written permission from parents and it must be suitable for the child.

I will not take any medication whilst childminding that may interfere with my ability to take care of the children.

  *Illegal substances

Anyone thought to be under the influence of illegal substances will be asked to leave.

Anyone thought to be under the influence of illegal substances will not be allowed to collect a child. In this instance I would ring another person on the contact form and if I cannot contact anyone it would then become a safeguarding matter.

(Please see safeguarding policy)

*Alcohol

Any alcohol on the premises will be stored safely.

I will not consume alcohol while minded children are in my care.

Any one thought to be under the influence of Alcohol will be asked to leave the premises if it is during my working hours.

Anyone thought to be under the influence of Alcohol and likely to put the child in danger (for e.g. if driving) will be refused permission to take any child. In this instance I will contact another person on the contact form as in the case of illegal substances.
