UNCOLLECTED CHILD POLICY

As a registered childminder I have to keep to child ratios set out by Ofsted

It is important that you drop off and collect your child on time in order to help me stay within these ratios.

Also if a child is not collected on time the child may become distressed.

If you know in advance that you will be late on a particular day then it is important to let me know so that I can make arrangements to be within my ratio of children(for e.g. have my assistant present) This will also allow me to forewarn the child if appropriate .

If you are to be unexpectedly late then please ring me and let me know as soon as possible so that I can let your child  know what is happening if he/she asks or becomes upset.

The time of collection will be stated on your contract.  This time must be adhered to unless there is a very good reason why it cannot be.  All extra time will be added onto your bill in units of 30 mins . If you are late on a regular basis your contract will be reviewed and the times updated.

If you do not return to collect your child within 1/2 hr of the agreed time I will try to contact you and/or someone on your emergency contact list.

If the child is still with me after 1 ½ hours and I have had no explanation as to why the child has not been collected I will follow the local safeguarding children’s board procedures as set out in my safeguarding policy

This policy and these procedures have been put in place to ensure your childs wellbeing and safety. It is also important that parents realise at the end of my day I may have other priorities and appointments to keep.

Please bear these things in mind.
